Video: Landmark

trying out a new style of blogging – vlogging I guess šŸ˜›Ā  So I’ve just made a very short video showing off the delicious sea and sea-sounds in Landmark.

I apologise in advance for the very hissy S sounds and some breathing sounds (nervous!!) – not sure if my mic is too close or if I have a crappy mic… (it’s also entirely possible that I sound like a snake when I talk and everyone has been far too nice to mention it to me :D)Ā  If anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated šŸ™‚

  1. Landmark is constantly looking better, but I’m still waiting closer to open beta. Seeing really good screenshots of some well made creations.
Your tower looks pretty cool, and well done. As for the ‘s’ hissing, if you’re talking into the mic and really close, it’s probably the sharp air from talking making the sound causing it. If you have a piece of soft foam to put over it, or a cloth to put in front of the mic should help clear that up.

  2. Been so long since I gave Landmark a try. Looking at the video makes me want to give it a try again. That is a pretty cool tower you have there. šŸ™‚

  3. Thanks for the replies and suggestions, some things to try out šŸ™‚

The tower is a provided prop that you can just plonk down immediately, basic resources (eg dirt stone) are now free and unlimited too :). Might be worth a look now, lots of good changes šŸ™‚

  4. Loved the vlog! Thank you for sharing! ^_^ I like this style, and hope you do more!

As for the mic–you more than likely need a pop filter, depending on your mic. I have a headset mic which is pretty decent (it better be–it’s a Razer!), but sometimes picks up background noises. But a pop filter won’t do me any good because it’s a headset mic.

One of my favorite mic brands ever is Blue. They make a Yeti microphone which is to die for (but expensive!), and less expensive versions called “Snowballs” which have pop filters on them (around $30 USD).
